Although back and neck pain was the main specific health problem people gave for seeing a chiropractor, almost half of the chiropractic patients said they went for general wellness or disease prevention.
¼ American sees a chiropractor, as it’s an effective, evidence based natural therapy that can help you with:
IMPROVE YOUR OVERALL HEALTH AND FEEL BETTER
RESTORE JOINT MOTION
TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DIS
SCOLIOSIS
SLEEP BETTER
RELAX (oxytocin is relaxed after a chiropractic adjustment)
REDUCE STRESS
COPE WITH HEALTH PROBLEMS
GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS
CERVICOGENIC HEADACHE
ASTHMA
HELP WITH DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY
IMPROVE RELATIONSHIPS AND WORK (normalize neural-sensory input and improved activity in cortical and subcortical area of the brain)
MOTIVATION FOR EATING HEALTHIER
People reported that Chiropractic care helped them with the cause of their problem instead of just treating the symptoms.
How Chiropractor and chiropractic care can help to reset the function of the brain and central nervous system so you could operate at your best?
The Chiropractic Adjustment can be done by hand or using an instrument such as an Activator. The Adjustment stretches the paraspinal muscles very fast, this blasts the mechanoreceptor input that bombards this information up to the brain that changes how the brain integrates and processes other sensory information about what is going on inside and outside of your body.
This improves the accuracy of body awareness, the body control and functions.
Studies have shown neuroplastic changes in sensory motor integration of motor control after spinal adjustment.
Other studies proved that the Chiropractic Adjustment improved production of strength in athletes, adults and even in brain injured patients.
Other studies proved that the adjustment can affect cerebellar function improving its communication with the motor and sensory cortex which is the key to sensory motor integration.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractors Specialize in the Health and Function of the Spine and Nervous System. Because of this focus on the spine, many people think it can help with back pain and headaches.
It’s true, but there is so much more to chiropractic than just pain.
Chiropractic care is about total health and wellness; it’s about helping people to feel great and get the most out of life and functioning at their optimal potential.
The spine is there to protect the spinal cord which is part of the Central Nervous System, it’s like an armor made up of segments so it can bend and move naturally with the body.
A spinal segment consist of 2 vertebras and the joints that connect them. There is a disc between each vertebra that act as a cushion. Underneath that armor, a lot is happening, messages travel from the body up the spinal cord and into the brain where they get processed and sent back to the spinal cord telling the body how to respond.

The spinal cord is a big information highway and brings vital info to every part of your body. Sometimes the wear and tear of everyday life can impact a spinal segment to move in a dysfunctional way. It can happen gradually (bad posture) or suddenly (sports injury). Everyday strain can impact the flow of information and communication between brain and body.
Messages might not be delivered to the brain or there can be miscommunication due to abnormal movement of the spine. This is what we call a Chiropractic Subluxation.
Making fast, gentle adjustment to the spine, chiropractors restore its natural movement, tuning the spine and CNS so your body can be more efficient.
How your brain perceives the World
Did you know that brain and the Central Nervous System are constantly changing? It’s amazing, from one day to the other your brain is not the same! This is what scientist call

What’s the cause of this change?
Your brain receive a constant supply of messages about your body and the external environment from the sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin and so on). With these information, our brain maintains a 3D map of the body and keeps tabs of what’s going on outside of your body.
Your brain needs to interpret all of these data from your sense and it translates the info it receives based on what is learnt from your past experiences, as well based on its expectation for the future, its preferences and more.
You can call this the “ brain bias”. There is basically a lot of background processing that happens under the radar. So, how you or your brain sees the situation might not be entirely accurate. That means your experience is not 100% based on reality, but it’s instead a perception of reality.
How would you know if your brain perception was inaccurate?
You might find that you become a bit clumsy, that you stub your toe often, that you catch your elbow on door frames, you might find that your golf swing is out, or that your concentration is not what it used to be. Or you might be over reacting emotionally to a situation.
Did you know that your muscles are also sensory organs?
Paraspinal muscle have a very important function, they tell your brain what your spine is doing, which represent the core of your body.
If your spinal motion segment start to move in a dysfunctional way, for example due to injury or bad posture, toxin, traumas, local inflammation, emotional or physiological stress, that communication between paraspinal muscle and your brain becomes distorted which means you have a communication breakdown between your brain and your body. If your spinal segments aren’t moving properly, it might cause background noise and therefor it will have to fill in the blanks.

That’s where your Chiropractor comes in, it will gently adjust any dysfunctional spinal segment or what we call a vertebral subluxation to restore healthy movement, this can improve the communication between your brain, your body and the environment.
When your brain can accurately perceive what’s going on inside and out, it can better control your body and move muscles in the right order, have fewer accidents and you can act and perform at your best.
What are other treatment options?
• Natural therapies
• Massage therapy
• Meditation
• Acupuncture
• Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation therapy
• Paracetamol and NSAID (only for transient relief)
